Launching Jask and Bushehr free trade zones will lead to the development of country’s southern areas.
Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA – Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran’s Free Trade, Industrial, and Special Economic Zones said the country’s second terminal for exporting oil and gas after the Kharq Island in the Persian Gulf will be constructed in the Jask port, southern Hormuzgan province.
Introducing government’s plans to develop the coastal strip of Makran along the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, Akbar Torkan said launching of the Jask and Bushehr free trade zones will lead to the development of country’s southern areas.
“Moreover, the National Iranian Oil Company has plans to set up a hub for oil export in the Oman Sea,” he added.
Makran coastal strip has the potentials to be the country’s new economic and industrial hub to south and east notably in terms of launching petrochemical and steel complexes.
Lying on the massive gas resources, the stretch has also been identified appropriate for construction of petrochemical complexes.
Recently, the SATA investment company announced it is going to launch units in Makran Petrochemical Project located in the southeastern Chabahar port city.
