Symrise expands cosmetic ingredients plant in Germany

German flavours and fragrances supplier Symrise has opened a new plant for the production of cosmetic ingredients in Holzminden, with an investment of €15m.

Apart from increasing production capacity, the new investment has increased the efficiency of the plant by using less energy.

The company also expects to build further facilities in Germany and the US.

Symrise produces various cosmetic components at its cosmetic ingredients division, and also hosts other additional production processes within the facilities.

With the help of the new plant, Symrise will be able to process various cosmetic ingredients and solution for cosmetics, including a complete range of suitable products.

Symrise Botanicals and Product Protection Cosmetic Ingredients Division senior vice-president, and Actives global head Gabriele Vielhaber said: “Opening a production plant for cosmetic ingredients strengthens our leading role in the development and production of innovative ingredients for producers of cosmetics and care products.

“We have established and built our expertise in cosmetic ingredients over many decades. With our sound knowledge of formulations, consumers and the market, as well as our application expertise, we are supporting our customers in developing personal care products.

“Also, our innovative strength has helped us set standards in cosmetic ingredients. We will continue to develop that expertise.”

Symrise supplies fragrances, flavourings, cosmetic base materials and substances, as well as functional ingredients worldwide.

It provides services to the manufacturers of perfumes, cosmetics, food and beverages, and of nutritional supplements, as well as the pharmaceutical industry and pet food producers.

Last year, Symrise recorded sales of around €2.1bn.

The group has presence in more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, tMiddle East, Asia, the United States, and Latin America.

Recently, it has acquired US-based Pinova Holdings for $397m. With the new acquisition Symrise has expanded its activities in the scent and care segment.

Chemours announced its CFO Jonathan Lock has resigned from all positions within the company, according to an SEC 8-K filing on April 23. The resignation comes in the aftermath of the company announcing that Lock, former CEO Mark Newman, and principal accounting officer Camela Wisel, had been placed on administrative leave.
