PolyOne Corporation, a premier provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions, today announced that it has appointed Michael A. Garratt as senior vice president and chief commercial officer, and Donald K. Wiseman as senior vice president, president of Performance Products & Solutions (PP&S).

In his new role, Mr. Garratt will be responsible for accelerating market-driven innovation, leading the company’s proprietary POL product development process, developing sales strategies and training, and driving the corporate marketing function to enable future growth. He replaces Michael E. Kahler, who has decided to retire.

“Michael Garratt’s diverse global background – with a particular emphasis on innovation, sales and strategic marketing – make him uniquely qualified to deliver growth and success as PolyOne’s chief commercial officer,” said Robert M. Patterson, president and CEO, PolyOne Corporation. “Likewise, Don has quickly demonstrated his ability to lead and deliver performance within PP&S, leveraging his proven management skills and experience in the materials space.”

“I’d also like to thank Mike Kahler for all his contributions to our customers and to PolyOne over the last 10 years. He has been instrumental to our specialty transformation, and we wish him all the best in retirement,” Mr. Patterson added.

With more than 25 years of experience in the specialty polymer sector, Mr. Garratt joined PolyOne in 2013 as president of PP&S. He previously served as president at Marmon Utility and chief operating officer of Excel Polymers. Mr. Garratt’s chemical career began with The Dow Chemical Company and later DuPont Dow Elastomers, a global joint venture. Mr. Garratt holds a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and an MBA from University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Mr. Wiseman joined PolyOne in 2015 as general manager of the company’s Geon business unit from Johns Manville, where he had P&L responsibility for its Performance Materials division. He has held leadership and general management positions at performance material companies throughout his accomplished career, such as at Cabot Microelectronics Corporation, Americhem, Michelman, and Rohm & Haas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Youngstown State University, a master’s in chemical engineering from University of South Carolina, and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
