An agreement has been reached for Caldic UK Limited to acquire Elastomerics Limited, a prominent specialty chemicals distributor based in Macclesfield, Great Britain. The completion of this agreement underlines Caldic’s customer focus, as it strengthens its product portfolio as well as service capabilities beyond its current activities in Great Britain.

Elastomerics Limited is based in Macclesfield (Cheshire, Great Britain) and specialises in the distribution of polymers and additives to the Surface Coatings, Plastics & Rubber, and Adhesives & Sealants industries. With strong formulation back-up and technical support, the British chemicals distributor is a great asset to Caldic’s current activities.

In the UK, Caldic has a strong presence in base chemicals, which are being supplied from its distribution centres in Chesterfield (Derbyshire) and Melton Mowbray (Leicestershire). Apart from established Speciality Chemicals and Food Ingredients Divisions, Caldic also offers solutions in Health and Personal Care, Refinery Chemicals, and other Industrial markets.

“The Elastomerics product portfolio perfectly complements our existing business by expanding our speciality product offering and gives us a much stronger presence in our focus markets”, says Philip Robinson, Managing Director of Caldic UK Limited. “Whilst we already have business in these markets, this acquisition enables us to offer a comprehensive portfolio to our customers, backed up by the excellent service and technical expertise of the Elastomerics team”.

Explaining the strategic rationale behind the acquisition, Floris van Eijndhoven, Director Industrial, Health and Personal Care at Caldic B.V., comments: “Caldic already sits at the top table of chemical distributors; nevertheless, we are working on further strengthening our already well-established position, especially in Speciality Chemicals and Food Ingredients. Elastomerics is a perfect fit for the Caldic Group, strengthening our position in the UK for the key market sectors Coatings, Plastics, Rubber, Adhesives and Sealants. Our suppliers and customers will benefit from the combined expertise of both companies”.

Gordon Cook, former owner and Managing Director of Elastomerics Limited, adds: “I am delighted to have reached this agreement with Caldic. The customer focus and service orientation of both companies make it a perfect fit, and I am confident that the business will continue to go from strength to strength under Caldic’s leadership”.

The former Elastomerics business will continue to be run out of its existing base in Cheshire, ensuring continuity in the key relationships with suppliers and customers.
