BASF shuffles executive board as one member retires

BASF today appointed Sanjeev Gandhi, 47, to the board of executive directors, effective 1 December 2014. Gandhi, currently head of BASF’s intermediates division, will replace Andreas Kreimeyer, 59, on BASF’s executive board. Kreimeyer will retire following the BASF annual shareholders’ meeting on 30 April 2015, when his contract expires. Kreimeyer has served on the BASF executive board for 12 years and since 2012 has responsibility for R&D. Martin Brudermüller, 53, vice chairman of the board, will take over this role following the annual shareholders’ meeting.
 
Following these changes, functions of the executive board will as of 1 May 2015 be redistributed. Kurt Bock, 56, chairman has responsibility for legal, taxes & insurance, strategic planning & controlling, communications & government relations, global executive human resources, investor relations and compliance; Margret Suckale, 58, industrial relations director/human resources, engineering & maintenance, environment, health & safety, European site & verbund management; Hans-Ulrich Engel, 55, CFO/oil & gas, finance, procurement, information services & supply chain operations, corporate controlling, corporate audit; Michael Heinz, 50,/dispersions & pigments, care chemicals, nutrition & health, performance chemicals, South America, advanced materials & systems research; Harald Schwager, 54,/crop protection, construction chemicals, Europe, bioscience research; Martin Brudermüller, 53,/vice chairman and research executive director/intermediates, monomers, petrochemicals, process research & chemical engineering, corporate technology & operational excellence, BASF New Business; Wayne Smith, 54, located in North America/catalysts, coatings, performance materials, market & business development North America, regional functions North America; Sanjeev Gandhi 47, located in Asia/Greater China & functions Asia/Pacific; South & East Asia, Asean & ANZ.
