BASF acquires Rolic AG

BASF acquired the private company Rolic AG headquartered in Allschwil, Switzerland. Both companies have agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.

The transaction includes Rolic’s affiliates in Allschwil, Eindhoven, The Netherlands and Shanghai, China. Regulatory approvals are not required.

Rolic is an high-tech company with worldwide operations. The company’s 110 employees develop and sell ready-to-use formulations and functional film products for the display and security industry against forgery as well as barrier materials and films.

“We are excited to have the Rolic team join BASF. The acquisition is a further step that reflects BASF’s strategic and long-term commitment to grow in the electronics industry,” said Dr. Markus Kramer, President of BASF’s Dispersions & Pigments division.

He will succeed Mathias Miedreich who has decided to step down, in mutual agreement with the Supervisory Board. Bart Sap joined Umicore in 2004 and has been the Executive Vice President Catalysis since March 2021.

MOL Inaugurates €1.3 Billion Polyols Complex in Hungary

Hungarian energy and petrochemicals group MOL has inaugurated its €1.3 billion polyol complex in Tiszaújváros, Hungary, with a capacity of around 200,000 t/y of polyol, a widely used plastic raw material. According to MOL, the commissioning is a significant milestone, as it is the only company in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe that covers the entire value chain from crude oil processing to polyol production.
