John S. Watson, retired chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chevron Corp., has been elected to the Cargill board of directors, effective Feb. 1.
Watson recently retired from Chevron after 37 years with the company.

He has a global perspective, with deep understandings of manufacturing economics, performance through technology, sectoral change and market volatility, geopolitical risk and more. John’s knowledge and insights will be invaluable for Cargill and our board.”
Watson joins six other independent directors on Cargill’s board: Richard Anderson, president and CEO of Amtrak; Louis Chenevert, retired chairman and CEO of United Technologies Corp.; Arthur Collins Jr., retired chairman and CEO, Medtronic, Inc.; Stephen Hemsley, executive chairman of UnitedHealth Group; Bernard Poussot, retired chairman, president and CEO of Weyeth; and Trudy Rautio, retired president and CEO of Carlson.
Cargill, a privately-owned company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S., provides food, agriculture, financial and industrial products to customers worldwide.

The Hershey Company has formally announced a leadership succession plan as Michele Buck, the current chairman, president and CEO, prepares to retire on June 30 2026. Buck, who has been with the company for two decades, will remain in her roles until a successor is appointed, after which she will transition to a senior advisor position.
The Kraft Heinz Company has officially appointed Marta Pilczuk as the managing director for its UK and Ireland operations, effective from January 1 2025. Pilczuk, who has over 16 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, steps into this role following a successful tenure as managing director of Kraft Heinz Poland.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned the use of the synthetic colourant Red Dye 3 in food, beverages and ingested drugs. The decision, announced on 15 January 2025, follows two studies that linked the dye to cancer in male laboratory rats.
