Fiona Smith, the chief operating officer and company secretary of Murray Goulburn, has resigned.
MG says one of the roles Ms Smith held will not be filled while the other is to be added to an existing employee’s job.
The co-operative announced to the Australian Securities Exchange this morning that Fiona Smith had resigned.
“With the recent changes to the board and senior management team it is an opportune time for a new team to carve out the next chapter for Murray Goulburn,” the statement said.
“After making an outstanding contribution to the company since joining in 2012, Fiona leaves Murray Goulburn with the board’s and senior management team’s sincere gratitude and best wishes.”
The chief operating officer role will not be replaced.
Responsibilities have been assumed by existing members of the senior management team, according to MG.
MG’s general counsel Amy Alston will expand her role to include the company secretary positions for both MG and MG Responsible Entity Limited, which is a subsidiary of company connected to the MG Unit Trust.
MG also appointed Mark Clark as an independent non-executive director to the board to replace Peter Hawkins who’s retirement was announced at the annual general meeting recently.
MG said Mr Clark had extensive board and senior management experience including directorships with companies operating in the fast-moving consumer goods, retail and consumer markets in Asia, Australia and the EU.
