Following the recent departure of Gerry Sweeney from the role of finance director, Brian Mackie will be joining the First Milk Management Team as chief operating officer. Mackie had initially joined First Milk as a non-executive director in June 2015 and therefore has been closely involved with the business for some months.

First Milk CEO Mike Gallacher commented: “Brian has proved an outstanding addition to the First Milk Board over the last few months and we have been working very closely together on delivering the turnaround plan for the company. He has significant and broad business experience, strong leadership and high energy levels, so I am delighted that he has agreed to step into this key executive role.

“In his new role Brian will lead the finance, legal and HR functions and also drive our corporate development agenda. In his new role, he will continue to sit on the First Milk Board and an announcement regarding succession into his Non Executive role will follow.”

Mackie previously worked as a chief financial officer with companies including Autobar, Starbev/Molson Coors Europe, Maxxium Worldwide and Cott Corporation over the last 25 years. He has had international responsibility for Finance, IT, Legal, Human Resources, and Commercial Operations during his international career with these food, drink and business services companies.
