Roger Massicotte has been named president of Agropur Cooperative. He succeeds René Moreau, who has retired.

Mr. Massicotte has been a member of the board of directors at Agropur for 16 years, representing the Mauricie-Portneuf region. He most recently was a vice-president of the cooperative from 2017-19 and has chaired the Environment Committee since 2010. He has been a member of the Human Resources Committee since 2017.

Prior to his work at Agropur, Mr. Massicotte was a director of Holstein Quebec from 2000-06 and chairman in 2006.

He owns Ferme Massicotte Holstein in Champlain, Que., which is a farm with a herd of 350 Holsteins and 250 acres in direct-seeded crops.

“The current political and market environment creates major challenges for us,” Mr. Massicotte said. “I believe the key to tackling those challenges lies in Agropur’s cooperative model. It rests on solid foundations. I am proud to step into Mr. Moreau’s shoes. He has left us a cooperative that is in sound financial health and strongly positioned to continue its development.”

Founded in 1938, Agropur Cooperative generated sales of approximately $6.4 billion in 2017. The cooperative has 3,290 members and 8,300 employees who process more than 6.1 billion liters of milk per year at 39 plants across North America.
