SalzburgMilch has launched milk products in SIG’s DomeMini on-the-go carton bottle, marking the first commercial use of SIG’s DomeMini 12 Aseptic filling line in Europe.
“SIG DomeMini is primarily made of FSC-certified paperboard (License code: FSC C020428). In a concrete product example from one of our customers more than 80% less plastic was used with our SIG DomeMini carton pack versus the plastic bottle used before,” Vanessa Bogner, marketing manager for D-A-CH at SIG, tells Packaging Insights.
Bogner adds that SIG expects the launch with SalzburgMilch to encourage more dairy and plant-based beverage manufacturers to adopt the format. “SalzburgMilch is kicking off the product launches in SIG DomeMini with two of its most popular children’s beverages. Additional innovative on the go products from brand owners and retail partners are already in development and are expected to be launched in the coming months.”

On-the-go design
SIG DomeMini is designed for products that undergo ultra-high temperatures, including specialty milks, protein drinks, plant-based milk alternatives, and meal replacements, according to the packaging solutions provider.
“With its unique bottle shape, SIG DomeMini delivers the perfect combination of on‑the‑go convenience, strong differentiation on shelf, and much less plastic compared to plastic bottles,” continues Schmid.
The on-the-go design also features a large, centrally positioned closure made to facilitate opening, resealing, and storage.
Alongside its “visual differentiation and convenience,” SIG highlights that the carton features “a high share of renewable materials.”
The DomeMini 12 Aseptic filling line behind the carton packaging is capable of aseptically filling 12,000 packages per hour across seven volume sizes (180–350 mL) on one filling machine, allowing for a volume change in 15 minutes, the company outlines.
The launch follows SIG’s 2025 announcement that SalzburgMilch would adopt the DomeMini carton bottle, in which the packaging company spotlighted that the DomeMini Carton is produced using fully renewable electricity.
Previously, SIG supported the launch of on-the-go nutrition milk in carton bottles for the Southeast Asian market and on-the-go yogurt in spouted pouches in Brazil.
