Mitsui Chemicals has announced a company-wide reorganization, effective from 1 April 2018, along with details of the changes to be implemented.

First, the company will establish a solution business planning and administration division within the mobility business sector. The company aims to promote business synergy between the recently acquired ARRK Corp. and Mitsui Chemicals. Furthermore, the move will help expand a solution business model with customer-driven strategies in the mobility business domain, says Mitsui Chemicals.

Second, the Nghi Son Project in the planning and coordination division will be separated from the basic materials business sector. The objective is to strengthen the Nghi Son Project and to address concerns related to a wide range of processes in the production of refined petroleum products, according to Mitsui Chemicals.

Third, a corporate sustainability division will be established to promote the integration of ESG (environment, social, and governance) elements with business strategies. The company states that the new division will also promote engagement with stakeholders, with the aim of enhancing the value of corporate sustainability.

Fourth, the R&D strategy division and R&D administration division will be integrated, and an R&D planning and coordination division will be established, according to Mitsui Chemicals. The purpose is to integrate each function of the R&D strategy division and R&D administration division in the R&D center, and to promote “the formulation, development, enhancement, and management of the R&D strategies,” which are the fundamental roles of the divisions.
