Flagship Food Group, a producer of Mexican-style frozen food and premium sauces and salsas, plans to invest $3 million in a new 76,000-square-foot frozen food distribution warehouse in Albuquerque.

The new facility, which is expected to be operational by early next year, also will feature a research and development center and is expected to add about 200 new jobs.

“Our new distribution facility in New Mexico will help us better serve our customers and represents another important step in the growth and development of our company,” said Rob Holland, chief executive officer of Flagship.

Based in Greenwood Village, Colo., Flagship Food Group is a global food company that serves the retail, club store and food service channels across a range of product lines. Flagship’s brands include TJ Farms, Lilly B’S, 505 Southwestern, Chris & Pitts and Su Ming. The company also serves as a supplier to private label customers, including its Trader Joe’s salsa line, and provides industry services to food companies through its logistics and packaging divisions.

“As our Southwestern food portfolio has doubled in size in only a few short years, we needed a facility that would warehouse our products and support our customers across the country with extreme efficiency and reliability,” said Carlos Angulo, chief operating officer of Flagship Food Group. “Working with our amazing team of operators and professionals, we’ve taken the project from concept to a fully-operational facility in less than one year.”

Flagship employs more than 500 and operates facilities in office in Denver; Los Angeles; Albuquerque; Boise, Idaho; Indianapolis; and Minnesota.
