Emerald Performance Materials sells 2 business units to Dystar

Emerald Performance Materials, LLC has reached an agreement to sell its Emerald Specialties and Polymer Additives and Nitriles business groups to DyStar LP.

The sale involves five of the company’s nine plants, specifically the dedicated plants in Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Cheyenne, WY, Henry, IL, and a portion of a shared site in Akron, OH. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The sale is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016, subject to standard regulatory approvals.

Emerald produces and markets technologically advanced specialty chemicals for a broad range of food and industrial applications. Its products play a variety of roles in the products that are consumed and used every day enabling them to last longer, look, smell, taste or perform better. Emerald® products are used in aerospace, food, beverages, cosmetics, toothpaste, household products, paint, tires, automobiles, sports gear and many other applications. Chemours announced its CFO Jonathan Lock has resigned from all positions within the company, according to an SEC 8-K filing on April 23. The resignation comes in the aftermath of the company announcing that Lock, former CEO Mark Newman, and principal accounting officer Camela Wisel, had been placed on administrative leave.
