Indorama plans shale cracker JV in the US, another MEG plant

Indorama Ventures (Bangkok), a major producer of polyester, plans to further back integrate to ethylene production and is in discussions with partners to build a greenfield ethylene plant in the United States, CW has learned. DK Agarwal, CEO/feedstocks and PET business, told CW today that the company is looking at Texas and Louisiana for a site. The project would be designed to produce 1.5 million m.t./year of ethylene using shale ethane gas as feedstock.
