With over 25 years of experience in the international CDMO and biotechnology industries, Torsten Woehr combines strong leadership skills in the commercial sector with in-depth knowledge of operational business. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer of Bachem, where he led global business operations and drove key strategic investments. Prior to that, he led, among other things, the Swiss CDMO’s oligonucleotide business. Before joining Bachem in mid-2017, he spent 20 years in various international leadership roles at companies including Johnson & Johnson, Genzyme, and Corden Pharma. His international experience includes more than ten years living in the United States. Torsten Woehr earned his Ph.D. in bioorganic chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne.

Nikolaus F. Rentschler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rentschler Biopharma, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Mr. Woehr to Rentschler Biopharma. He brings extensive transatlantic experience as well as a proven track record in the CDMO industry—from the successful implementation of commercial strategies to drive company growth to building trusting customer relationships. At a time when our customers are facing increasing complexity in the development and manufacture of biologics, his expertise in aligning commercial priorities with operational capabilities and strengthening partnerships will be crucial. I am confident that, under his leadership, we will continue to deliver sustainable value to our customers and their patients.”

Torsten Woehr, CEO-designate of Rentschler Biopharma, commented: “Rentschler Biopharma stands for trusting partnerships, scientific expertise, and a high degree of reliability toward its customers. I look forward to leading the company and working with the talented and dedicated teams across the organization. We will build on this solid foundation to expand our capabilities and deliver sustainable value to our partners, customers, and patients worldwide. In doing so, we will continue to be guided by our vision of advancing medicine to protect lives—together.”

This appointment marks the start of the next phase of the company’s strategy, which aims to further strengthen long-term growth and sustainable value creation. Following a period of interim leadership, Uwe Buecheler will step down from his role as interim CEO effective August 1, 2026, and resume his position as Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Nikolaus F. Rentschler commented: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to Mr. Buecheler for his outstanding work during the transition phase. His experience, leadership, and dedication have ensured continuity, maintained momentum, and positioned Rentschler Biopharma well for the next phase of development. I am very pleased that he will continue to support the company in his role on the Supervisory Board.”
