Sika has acquired Emseal Joint Systems, Ltd., a US-based market leader in the development and manufacturing of structural expansion joint products for new construction and refurbishment. With the acquisition, Sika will be able to offer the most comprehensive range of sealing and bonding solutions available in the North American construction market. Emseal generates annual sales of CHF 40 million.
Based near Boston, Emseal is a well-established US company with a strong brand and a leading position with construction specifiers and contractors throughout North America. At K 2025, Borealis will distribute a deposit-free reuse system for cups made from modified polypropylene for foam, utilizing chemically recycled feedstock from OMV’s ReOil technology. This is believed to be the first time the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition centre will offer a comprehensive system for reusable cups, which will operate at every restaurant and bar serving drinks at this year’s K Fair.
AkzoNobel has announced its intention to close the manufacturing sites in Wapenveld (the Netherlands) and Machelen (Belgium) and consolidate production at other locations in the region. The intended closures are part of the company’s multi-year industrial transformation program.
Metso Corp. (Espoo, Finland) has signed an agreement to sell its Ferrous business to SMS group (Düsseldorf, Germany), a global company providing technology and services in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the metals industry. The businesses to be divested include, for example, travelling-grate pelletizing and Circored direct reduction process.
