dsm-firmenich, innovators in nutrition, health, and beauty, announced the appointment of Inge Massen-Biemans as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) effective November 1, 2026. Inge will report directly to Dimitri de Vreeze, CEO of dsm-firmenich. She succeeds Katharina Stenholm, who has decided to step down from the role at the end of 2026 to pursue other interests, after developing and executing the company’s sustainability program over the past three years.
Dimitri de Vreeze, CEO of dsm-firmenich, commented: “Inge combines deep business acumen and a track record of driving enterprise-wide initiatives, with a genuine passion for people and sustainability. Her ability to connect teams, engage stakeholders, and drive meaningful results makes her uniquely positioned to successfully lead the next chapter of our sustainability journey. I am delighted to welcome her into this role and look forward to working together. I am also deeply grateful to Katharina for her pivotal role in expanding our positive impact and creating the framework to position sustainability at the core of our value creation model. Following our portfolio review and divestments, the company is now entering a new phase, focused on executing against this strong foundation, accelerating impact in our priority areas, whilst supporting business growth and resilience.”
A 25-year veteran of dsm-firmenich, Inge Massen-Biemans has held several senior leadership roles at the company. Currently serving in the role of VP Nutrition, Health & Social Impact, she has worked on the company’s partnership with the World Food Programme and helped shape its approach to health, well-being, and respect for human rights across its operations and value chains. Previously, Inge led Corporate & Public Affairs and spearheaded the launch of the dsm-firmenich Progress Foundation.
Building on her current Sustainability role, she will lead the next phase of dsm-firmenich’s sustainability agenda while continuing to serve as Country President for The Netherlands.
Katharina Stenholm, who built and led the company’s sustainability program following the dsm-firmenich merger, has established a strong team and foundation for its next chapter. Under her leadership, the company has embedded sustainability across all aspects of the organization, integrating sustainability into business decision making.
