Amcor’s Asia Pacific Innovation Center (APIC) laboratory has received accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).
CNAS is China’s national accreditation body evaluating testing and calibration laboratories against international standards.
The accreditation indicates that a laboratory meets globally recognized requirements for technical competence and quality management. It is usually granted following an 18-to-24-month evaluation process.
With the CNAS recognition, Amcor’s APIC can provide test data recognized across 116 countries, streamlining regulatory approval and market access for customers.
Ludmila Fidale, vice president for R&D, at Amcor, says: “Becoming CNAS accredited means our customers don’t have to second-guess the data — it’s recognized wherever they operate. It allows us to solve problems faster, with confidence, especially in markets where the rules are changing quickly, and sustainability expectations are rising.”
Supporting customer access
The accreditation comes as Amcor expands in China. Last month, it announced the expansion of the group’s flexible packaging products facility in Dongguan, China. The project is expected to be fully completed and operational by July 2027. It will include the construction of production workshops and an intelligent warehousing center.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to achieve an annual output value exceeding RMB500 million (US$73.5 million). The company says the move aligns with Amcor’s expansion in the South China region and will inject strong momentum into the development of the consumer goods packaging industry.
Amcor says the accreditation could strengthen its ability to respond to local requirements while creating a repository of regulatory, material, and testing insights that can be applied across other high-growth markets.
The laboratory aims to accelerate compliance pathways for multinational and regional customers and develop reliable certification approaches applicable across emerging markets.
Meanwhile, Amcor seeks to deliver data-driven innovation that enhances packaging performance and supply chain resilience.
Amcor is advancing its strategic expansion efforts. Earlier this year, Amcor Flexibles expanded the production capacity of its Lugo di Vicenza factory in Italy. The company installed a manufacturing line, laboratory, and warehouse.
Last year, Amcor extended its printing, lamination, and converting capabilities for the North American protein market.
