Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. will appoint Hein Schumacher as Chief Executive Officer of the dairy company from January 1, 2018. Hein Schumacher will succeed Roelof Joosten, who will resign as Chief Executive Officer.
The news comes several weeks after Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. announced plans to simplify the organization into four global business groups: Consumer Dairy, Specialised Nutrition, Ingredients and Basic Dairy.
The less complex structure is claimed to enable FrieslandCampina to more respond to the market developments more efficiently and to allow innovation with strategic priorities.
Hein Schumacher became a member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer of FrieslandCampina on January 1, 2015. Previous to this, he worked, among others, at Heinz in both financial and general management positions in the Netherlands, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and China.
Roelof Joosten has been Chief Executive Officer of FrieslandCampina since June 1, 2015. In 2012, he became a member of the Executive Board and as Chief Operating Officer he was responsible for the business group FrieslandCampina Ingredients. Roelof Joosten has been employed by FrieslandCampina since the year 2004.

We will also put more emphasis on the value that our specialized nutrition and our consumer brands can offer. The Executive Board will be reduced from six to two persons. In this process, we have also had the courage to take a critical look at our own roles and responsibilities. Consequently, I have decided to pass on the baton to Hein at the end of this year. Hein’s drive and clout are qualities that perfectly fit in with this new phase for our company. It was not an easy decision for me personally, for I have always worked with a lot of passion with FrieslandCampina.”
The Central Works Council of FrieslandCampina will be asked for advice on the appointment. Announcements about the succession of Hein Schumacher will be made in due time.

Currently chief executive of GreenV – an international group of companies active in the horticultural sector – van Karnebeek spent a large portion of his career at Heineken, working in commercial, marketing and general management positions. He served as chief commercial officer at the Dutch brewer from 2015 until 2021.
The facility combines the existing Kerry office in Barcelona with a new customer suite and application labs. It will enable the company to work more closely with its customers in Southern Europe to develop food and beverage solutions.
The sweet and culinary flavor creation labs are the latest addition to the company’s expansive campus that has been in operation since 1964, spanning more than 312,150 square feet in Brabrand, Denmark. The innovation hub is home to more than 400 employees engaged in research, application development, ingredient and flavor creation.
