Air Liquide acquires two Swiss companies

Air Liquide SA said Tuesday that it acquired two health care companies in Switzerland.

The French company said it acquired both Sleep & Health SA and Megamed AG although no financial details were disclosed.

Air Liquide said the acquisitions strengthen its presence in Europe.

Sleep & Health offers home healthcare services for patients with sleep apnea and Megamed specializes in ventilation and support for patients who suffer from respiratory failure.

Oxford given £100m for antibiotic resistance research

Britain’s Oxford University has received a donation of £100 million (112 million euros, $136 million) to research growing resistance to antibiotics, the university announced on Tuesday. The sum, from British chemicals multinational Ineos, is one of the largest donations given to Oxford University in its long history.
