Hiab, part of Cargotec, announces the launch of the new MULTILIFT TALON – an advanced container handling unit designed to transform logistics for defence forces operating in the most demanding environments making operations smarter, safer and faster.

The MULTILIFT TALON offers an unmatched combination of speed, safety, and efficiency. Built on proven technology, the system enables seamless transitions between Flatrack and ISO Container modes directly from within the vehicle cab, enhancing operational efficiency. Its integration of cutting-edge automation and Hiab’s HiVision technology allows a single operator to control all loading/unloading processes from the safety of the cabin, minimising human error and reducing cycle times significantly.

“The MULTILIFT TALON represents a new standard for defence logistics. It combines battle-tested reliability with advanced technological features, ensuring the forces have the agility and safety they need on the ground,” says Frank van Dongen, Director of Government Business Operations (GBO), Hiab.

Key Benefits:

  • Faster Operations: The system allows for fully automated configuration changes from within the cab, automatic functions and fast-speed features, with a complete container loading cycle taking just 180 seconds.
  • Smarter Design: The system features a simple and compact user interface, operable by a single person (the driver). The MULTILIFT HiVision system provides operator assistance for quick and efficient loading/unloading. The new Lift Frame design enhances performance in challenging conditions (roll pitch & yaw) and lifting partially submerged containers. The unique design of the rear assembly enables the handling of a wide variety of Flatracks without any performance loss.
  • Prioritising safety: Performing all tasks from inside a secure cabin, the need for the single operator for external manual interventions is eliminated, which significantly improves safety in high-risk environments.

This versatile unit is compatible with 1C and 1CC ISO 668 Containers, NATO STANAG 2413 Flatracks, and DIN 30722 bodies, ensuring interoperability with standard defence systems. With a lifting capacity of 16.5 tonnes and a built-in 10% overload tolerance, the MULTILIFT TALON is optimised for use in the most challenging terrains and conditions. The advanced design also anticipates future demands, with autonomy support capabilities built-in for next-generation defence logistics. Hiab recently launched its new L2 driver support assistance technology, which is laying the foundation for further advancements in autonomous load handling.
