Covestro LLC announced that Jerry MacCleary, company president and head of the the polyurethanes business unit in North America, will assume the roles of CEO and chairman of the board beginning Feb. 1.

When MacCleary moves to his new position, current chief operating officer Erik Haakan Jonsson will become president and managing director of the company.

Christine Bryant, currently head of coatings, adhesives and specialties, will become head of polyurethanes in North America when MacCleary takes the new position.

MacCleary joined Covestro (OTC: COVTY), then Bayer, in 1979 as an accountant and has since served in sales, marketing and management roles throughout the United States and Germany, according to a news release.

He led Covestro’s North American business through its separation from Bayer AG and establishment as an independent company in 2015.

Covestro manufactures polymer materials at 30 production sites and employs about 15,600 people. The company’s North American headquarters and a research and development facility is based off the Parkway West, with about 700 employees at its campus.

In May, the company named Markus Steilemann as CEO, to assume the role in September 2018.
